OUGS supports the study of geology and other earth sciences by providing opportunities for members to learn via field trips, talks, workshops and conferences led by experts in their fields. |

Membership is open to everyone interested in geology and other earth sciences, not just Open University students and staff. Our 2400+ members include amateur fossil hunters, professional oil engineers, oceanographers and satellite imagery experts studying planetary geology. |

The OUGS operates from 17 Branches throughout the UK and Europe. Branches are managed locally to provide a focus for members in a given area. |

Our field trips span the globe. We offer something for everyone. During 2011 our field trips will visit France, Spain, Portugal, Tenerife, Cyprus, Norway, Iceland, Sikkim, China, USA and over 100 sites in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. |
