Welcome to the North West Branch of the Open University Geological Society. |
|||
|
The North West Branch is the second largest in terms of membership. Field trips are held through the year, except in mid-winter, when we have two lecture events. Our members receive five local newsletters a year, that contain articles and details of upcoming events. We also have a large library of geological books and maps that members can borrow. |
|
Our Branch covers Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man | ||

A note from our Branch Organiser
The North West branch covers an area from Cheshire up to the Scottish Border and includes the Isle of Man. There are over 180 members in the branch at the present time.
We are an active group, holding many field trips throughout the year and some lectures and social events during the winter months. If you are new to geology, one of the best ways to gain experience is to come along to the field trips where you will not only see things in their natural state but also meet and learn from other members.
If you are a more experienced geologist we look forward to any input you are able to give.
Over the past years our field trips have taken us to many parts of the British Isles, and occasionally the opportunity to visit more exotic geological areas such as Iceland, Italy, France and Hawaii. As well as providing interesting, enjoyable trips we hope to provide useful practical experience for those involved with geological studies. Jane Schollick OUGS North West Branch Organiser |
