February 22, 2010   Devon Great Consols photos

Chris Popham sent in some photos taken on the Sept 20th 2009 Devon Great Consols trip. I have appended them to Helen Phythian's report in Branch Trip Résumés. (With apologies for trying yet another style of photo presentation).

December 15, 2009   Events and links

November 29, 2009   AGM and Cornubia05
Added the AGM notice and poster. Added the Devon Great Consols fieldtrip report, and Uranium mineral notes from Cornubia05-2009.
November 17, 2009   Newletters, and yet more on branch trip reports.
The online library of Cornubias has been moved to the Membership Services section in the interests of security (i.e. security of the committee members' contact details). You will need to know your membership number (and your surname) to gain access to this area.

After a final search through the old Cornubias, I've added a couple more older field trip reports and fixed a few others which had imaginary photos. I now propose to draw a line under the past material and declare the website up to date, unless anyone has access to interesting pre-2002 material in electronic format. Going forward, field trip reports will be published as they become available, but other contributions would be very welcome for the 'Geology of the Local Area' section and the currently rather sparse photo gallery. I may have to resort to producing something myself, but it would be a shame to lower the current high standard.

If anyone has details of any future non-OUGS events which would be of interest to branch members, please let me have the details and I will add them to the 'Other Local Geological Events' list.

As ever, feedback of any nature would be welcome. JK.
November 07, 2009   Branch trip reports and Geology of the Local Area
Added a 'proper' version of Chris Popham's field notes to the 07/06/09 Hooten Wheals trip report. Also added the same author's notes on Little Duke Mine and Bedford Consols to 'Geology of the Local Area'.
October 04, 2009   Articles from past Cornubias
Articles from past Cornubias continue to be added, the most recent being the 2007 Haldon Hill report in the Branch Trip Reports section, and Chris Popham's King's Wood Adit notes in Geology of the Local Area. These 2 sections now contain a considerable amount of information about south western geology.
August 27, 2009   More local events added
Well, local-ish. Added News item providing notice of several Wessex branch events. Details of some field trips and courses in the Bristol / Mendips / Cotswold / Dean Forest area in the Other Local Events section. Has anyone got details of events in Devon or Cornwall?
August 26, 2009   Seminar report
Added Gordon Neighbour's report on the  Palaeontological Association's 'Sea Dragons of Avalon' seminar to the Geology of the Local Area section.
August 15, 2009   Local events and Sales
The 'Other Local Geological Events' section has been switched on, and used to provide notice of a series of talks at the DCM in Dorchester. If anyone has information on other non-OUGS events which might be of interest to branch members please let me know and I will add them.

I've also added the 'OUGS Sales' menu item. This has no local input, and just provides access to central sales. Don't send your money to the branch!
July 24, 2009   Articles and pictures
The Cornubia back catalogue is being scavenged for material to add to the Branch Trip Resumes and Geology of the Local Area sections. It's a continuing process, and each addition won't be individually announced in this section, but there have been several recently. The rate of progress is directly proportional to the Mid-Devon rainfall.
Also just added to the Photo Gallery is a group of the Branch Organiser's excellent photos of the Hartland area, to whet your appetite for the 2010 AGM Geoweekend.
Any contributions and constructive feedback would be welcome.
July 10, 2009   AGM Minutes
The South West branch AGM minutes since 2003 can now be viewed or downloaded from the Membership Services section.
June 29, 2009   Members section
The member's section is open.
You'll find your member number on the mailing label for your newsletter.  I don't have a list so it's no good asking me.
There will be south-west branch content asap but in the meantime there is info from central OUGS and you will soon be able to access info from other branches.

Other updates:
The latest newsletter and trip reports from Dartmoor and Ogmore are added.
The contacts details and comittee lists have been changed at the advice of OUGS central and personal details removed.  However, any email sent to south.west@ougs.org will be passed around the committee by me if necessary.
